Jeff Bridges has given an update on his cancer. His tumor has now shrunk to “the size of a marble”.
It’s been around two and a half years since Jeff Bridges (73) received the shock diagnosis of lymph node cancer. Several months of chemo followed, then a severe corona infection. The actor is doing better now. His tumor had shrunk to “the size of a marble” through IV and oral chemotherapy, he says.
Remarkable: When he discovered the tumor in his abdomen, it was about 30 by 23 centimeters in size. But he never felt any pain. Bridges said he was filming fight scenes for The Old Man before he knew he had the tumor. “You’d think it would hurt if I got hit, but it didn’t.”
Wife was a special support
After several months of chemotherapy, the next shock came: Jeff Bridges became seriously ill with Corona in January 2021. The cancer treatment destroyed his immune system. “It was really, really hard.” However, giving up was out of the question – mainly thanks to his wife.
“Sue was my absolute champion. She really fought to keep me off a ventilator. There was no way I wanted to get on it, the doctors weren’t thrilled. But Sue was persistent.”
After a two-year hiatus, Bridges returned to the set of The Old Man in February 2022 and to screens in September. The second season of the Disney+ series starring Bridges is already in the works.
