Almost 30 years ago Arnold Schwarzenegger was the star of the film “True Lies”. The action cinema icon (75) gave a CIA agent on such a secret mission that he even had to lie to his wife, Oscar winner Jamie Lee Curtis (64). Until everything flew around his ears in a visually stunning way.
Today Arnie makes his Netflix debut in the series “Fubar”, a reboot of “True Lies”.
The motif of the double life is taken to extremes here. Arnie’s daughter Emma, ”Top Gun: Maverick” star Monica Barbaro (32), has been hiding from her father for a decade that they work for the same “company”.
Under the protective hand of Emma’s godfather, also at the CIA, the double life goes well for a long time – until Emma is exposed and her father arrives. Old parent-child conflicts and sad misunderstandings seep into the daily routine of hand-to-hand combat, bad boys and gun violence in an amusing way. A series with pep thanks to the wonderful chemistry between Arnie and Barbaro, which reminds one thing: The “Terminator” can also be funny.
