The Canadian worries about the position of trans people in society. Unlike himself, many of them had big problems to contend with and didn’t feel represented.
Hollywood star Elliot Page (“Juno”, “Inception”) would like to see more people with trans identity in public besides himself. “I think it’s very important that we feel represented and see ourselves. I didn’t have that as a child,” said the 36-year-old, who came out as transgender at the end of 2020, the “People” magazine.
The Canadian referred to problems that many trans people still face today: they are disproportionately often unemployed, affected by homelessness and are disadvantaged in health care. “My experience as a trans person and this life I lead and the privilege I have does not reflect the reality of most trans lives.”
But he also had to go through difficult moments, reports the Canadian. “I feel like I just barely made it in a lot of ways. But today I’m just being myself and grateful to be here and alive and taking one step at a time.” Page’s memoir “Pageboy” will be released on June 6th.
