With a soulful pop anthem, he became world champion of hearts in 2014: But pop singer Andreas Bourani always looks outside the box of his profession.
Pop singer Andreas Bourani (“Auf uns”) tends to be more in a good mood than bad – also because of the living conditions in Germany.
“I have my dream job, I was born in a country where democracy is at the top and where you can shape your own values,” said Bourani in an interview with the “Saarbrücker Zeitung” a few years ago. Today the singer, who is always involved in charity concerts for human rights, celebrates his 38th birthday.
Andreas Bourani was adopted when he was a week old. All he knows about his birth parents is that they came from North Africa. He grew up in Augsburg, went to a school with a musical branch and sang in a choir. His clear voice, which clearly emphasizes every syllable, shows the beginnings of classical music.
Sometimes his singing style is reminiscent of Herbert Grönemeyer’s, and that’s no coincidence. “When I was 16 or 17, I discovered other music for myself,” says Bourani. Above all, this included German singers such as Nena, Udo Lindenberg and Grönemeyer. “I wanted to make music that I’m also a fan of myself, and that’s German pop music.” His career really got rolling in 2014 with the World Cup anthem “Auf uns”, with “Astronaut” Bourani and his duo partner Sido landed another hit a year later.
