Tina Turner is to be honored with a statue in her native town of Brownsville, Tennessee. The mayor of the town said so.
Another tribute is planned for rock legend Tina Turner (1939-2023), who died on May 24 at the age of 83. Like Bill Rawls Jr., the mayor of Turner’s birthplace of Brownsville, Tennessee, the city plans to erect a statue. This should be placed in a prominent place in the local heritage park – and thus not far from Carver High School, which Turner attended in her youth. There is already a Tina Turner Museum in town.

“When Tina entered the stage, she was hers,” explains the mayor. The Tina Turner statue should now “represent this passion”. The singer inspired the whole world. Turner also demonstrated to the residents of her native town of Brownsville that everyone writes their own story – regardless of where it begins or ends.
Turner died last Wednesday after struggling with various illnesses for years. Stars and celebrities from all over the world commemorated the deceased rock icon. Numerous musicians such as Lizzo (35), Janet Jackson (57) or the British band Coldplay also honored her on stage during her performances in the days after her death.
