Everyone and “Toni Erdmann”
From 2002 to 2009, Simonischek played Jedermann at the Salzburg Festival. He became internationally known through the title role in Maren Ade’s (46) Oscar-nominated feature film “Toni Erdmann” (2016). For his role as the retired music teacher Winfried Conradi, who wanted to lure his manager daughter Ines Conradi (Sandra Hüller) out of her shell with his odd alter ego Toni Erdmann, he was awarded many prizes, including the European Film Prize, the Austrian Film Prize and the German Film Awards – in each case as best leading actor.
He was last seen in 2022 in the improv series “Kranitz – When Separation Money Back” by and with Jan Georg Schütte (60), as well as in the movies “Dear Kurt” (2022) and “Fantastic Beasts: Dumbledore’s Secrets” (2022 ) as a prison guard.
Simonischek leaves behind his second wife, the Carinthian actress Brigitte Karner (65, “Alma und Oskar”), and three children, including actor Max Simonischek (40, crime series “Laim”) from his first marriage to actress Charlotte Schwab (79, “Toni , male, midwife”).
