What to try at La Feria Francesa -the gastronomic market-

French food in autumn is filled with warm colors and sweet flavors, sometimes accompanied by seasonal meats or seafood.

As always, there will be typical proposals for elegant French street food from $500.- such as the inevitable croissant, baguette with brie cheese and raw ham or the expected warm croque-monsieur. But without a doubt, the cheeses -such as brie, camembert, something warm like a cheese fondue or melted raclette in a baguette, or a boeuf bourguignon- will be a success in this autumnal edition. Also the classic quiches lorraine, salmon brioche, soupe à l’oignon (onion soup) with sourdough toast and melted cheese or soupe vichysoisse, will be ideal to cope with the low temperatures.

For lovers of sweets, the apple tatin, the chocolate truffles, the pain au chocolat, the éclairs -pistachio is recommended-, or macarons, with a “grand crême” coffee -specialty coffee with a French brewing method -, will surely be the most chosen options. Of course, there will be no shortage of vegetarian and vegan options.

The French Fair is an unmissable event on the Buenos Aires calendar through which more than 20,000 connoisseurs come to enjoy the best of French cuisine, but also its culture. In addition to the best of frank flavors, during both days you can enjoy various activities: storytelling in French for children and adults organized by the Arc-en-Ciel Association, Workshop on “Discovery of the French language through gastronomy ” organized by the French alliance, Cooking Masterclass, French music recitals and more.

“The cold days are beginning to feel, and what better French food to face it with something delicious and that pairs perfectly with these low temperatures. We want to continue sharing the iconic flavors of our emblematic cuisine with the Argentine community. And doing it outdoors, in this square that commemorates our country, trying out different proposals, spending an afternoon at the kermesse -well in the French foire populaire style-, full of interesting activities seems to us to be the ideal setting for it” says Jean Lauriot, member of Lucullus.
