The song begins with a long guitar intro with Dave Grohl singing, to give way to the group’s classic explosion. The lyrics mention the death of the drummer taylor hawkins and Grohl’s mother, Virginia.
Directed by the multimedia artist Tony Ourslerthe single’s accompanying video is a short film featuring emotional images and home videos of the band.
The director drew the attention of foo fighters through his work with David Bowiespecifically his video for Bowie’s milestone in January 2013, “Where Are We Now?”.
“The Teacher” follow the band’s previously released singles “Rescued”, “Under You” and “Show Me How”. The disc “But Here We Are” will be released June 2 via Roswell Records/Columbia Records.

foo fighters he performed two comeback concerts last week, the first in New Hampshire on May 24 and the second at Boston Calling on May 26.
During their set at Boston Calling, the band was joined on stage by the drummer’s late son taylor hawkinsShane to perform “I’ll Stick Around.” Shane previously performed “My Hero” with the band at the Hawkins tribute concert at Wembley Stadium last September.
At concerts, the band introduced newly announced drummer Josh Freese, who took over the role following Hawkins’ passing last year.
