Sky Comedy, Spiegel history and Curiosity TV are affected, a Sky spokesman announced on Tuesday. “Our station portfolio is strongly geared to the needs of our customers and is regularly adjusted accordingly,” said Sky as a reason. From the end of June, Spiegel Geschichte and Curiosity TV will no longer be available on the Sky platform in German-speaking countries.
This will apply to Sky Comedy from mid-September. “The media usage behavior of our viewers has changed significantly,” the statement said specifically about Sky Comedy. “And they watch comedy content in particular flexibly, primarily on demand via Sky Q or Wow. As a result, we are discontinuing the linear comedy channel.” Nothing will change for comedy fans. There is a “particularly extensive range of comedy” on Sky Q and Wow.
Selected content can still be found linearly on channels such as Sky 1 or Sky Atlantic. The second season of “And Just Like That”, which starts in June, will continue to be shown both linearly on Sky Atlantic and on demand via Sky Q and Wow. As far as Spiegel history and Curiosity TV are concerned, the provider referred to Sky Documentaries and the partnership with the History Channel.
