Aristocracy: Insights into the childhood of Monaco’s Prince Albert II.

Growing up as part of a royal family comes with a lot of responsibilities. However, Prince Albert II of Monaco knows that there are also moments of fun and chats inside the box.

Growing up in the Monegasque princely palace was exciting for Prince Albert II of Monaco as a child. “We walked everywhere, it was an adventure for us,” he told Gala magazine.

The 65-year-old monarch revealed: “For example, I went roller-skating with my sisters at the Hercules Gallery. Our curator would no longer allow me to do that today.” But he never broke anything.

Albert II also wanted his children, eight-year-old twins Jacques and Gabriella, to get to know the palace in their own unique way. “They’re supposed to be discovering things for themselves. It helps them get a sense that this isn’t just an official place, it’s also their home.” Nevertheless, he and his 45-year-old wife Charlène would have shown the children the state apartments and other important rooms.
