Benedict Cumberbatch and his family were attacked by a knife-wielding chef at their north London home.

Bissell eventually fled the scene before things could get any worse. He was arrested after the police found his DNA on the intercom. The actor and his family fined him £250 and a three-year restraining order.

A source told the newspaper: “Naturally the whole family was absolutely terrified and thought this guy was going to come in and hurt them. Luckily he never got that far. Benedict and Sophie have spent many sleepless nights since then, worried that they might be attacked again. The fact that it was a targeted intrusion makes it that much scarier.”

This was not the first time Bissell had been arrested. In 2015, the chef was detained in his underwear during a protest against the military intervention in Syria. He also has a prior conviction for robbery, three reprimands for property crimes, a public order offense and a drug offense.

On May 10, the chef pleaded guilty and was sentenced, but details of the case could only be reported last week after blanket restrictions were lifted following a legal challenge by the Daily Mail.
