The Netflix streaming service has now announced June 15 as the start date for the sixth season (with five episodes/movies). “Charlie Brooker’s dark and satirical anthology series is back and, as always, reinvents itself with every episode,” Netflix announced. When it comes to unpredictability and twists, the season is unbeatable.
Anthology (thematic compilation) means that while there is something unifying, the episodes do not have the same characters or a plot that builds on each other. What the episodes have in common in “Black Mirror” is that they are always about the negative effects of technology and media on society and individuals.
A trailer for the new season includes a brief preview of an episode titled “Joan Is Awful,” in which a woman realizes that a global streaming platform has released a series about her life, starring Salma Hayek.
The series “Black Mirror” started in 2011 on British broadcaster Channel 4 and later migrated to Netflix. The final season came out in 2019. If you haven’t seen anything from a series for four years, it’s usually over. Not so here: the sequel is eagerly awaited by millions of fans.
