26 years after his death, rap legend Tupac Shakur has been honored with his own star on the Walk of Fame.

Like the , the rapper will receive his own star in the Recording category at a public ceremony on Hollywood Boulevard on June 7.
“Tupac Shakur was a rapper, actor, activist, poet and revolutionary,” said Ana Martinez, Vice President and Publicist for the Hollywood Walk of Fame. “This iconic artist is still part of the zeitgeist decades after his death and will remain an important cultural figure for years to come.”
“Someone from Los Angeles”
The New Yorker Shakur had spent his formative years in California. As “someone from Los Angeles,” the rapper’s star would certainly make the list of most viewed stars, Martinez said.
Tupac Shakur had released a total of four albums since 1991 before he was shot dead at the age of 25, presumably in the course of the “East Coast vs West Coast” feud. He serves as an inspiration for countless artists, including Kendrick Lamar (35), Eminem (50), Drake (36), Ed Sheeran (32) and Justin Bieber (29).
