At the recent Cannes festival, there were several voices that rose up in favor of genre cinema, such as horror, traditionally relegated to the background, and yet it is one of the films that brings the most business to the film industry in its set.
The case of the two parts of “It” (2017 and 2019), by Muschietti, who will release “Flash” with great worldwide expectation, or the films of Guillermo del Toro, was explicitly mentioned. “Who brought the movie theater business back, revived it, brought it back from the grave, like Frankenstein? genre cinema. All the cinema should be grateful to us”, assured Del Toro. He also assured that fantastic cinema in Latin America is experiencing a “great moment” with “two very large poles of production”, Argentina and Mexico.
