The days of mark hamill like Luke Skywalker are basically over. During an interview on CBS News’ “Sunday Morning,” the icon of Star Wars said the franchise no longer needs the hero who helped make it a worldwide phenomenon.
“Well, never say never, but I don’t see any reason to.”Hamill said of reprising the role of Luke Skywalker. “Let me put it that way: I mean, they have so many stories to tell, they don’t need Luke anymore. I had my time, and that’s good. But that’s enough.”

Hamill was the face of the original trilogy of “Star Wars” of George Lucas next to Harrison Ford and Carrie Fisher. She returned to the role decades later, at the end of “Star Wars: The Force Awakens” of 2015, and was a key character in “Star Wars: The Last Jedi” from 2017. That film ended with Luke’s death, but Hamill returned as a Force ghost in 2019’s “The Rise of Skywalker” and later portrayed a younger Luke via motion capture and de-aging visual effects. in “The Mandalorians” and “The Book of Boba Fett”.
“When I read the script for ‘The Last Jedi,’ I said, ‘Okay, well, that’s it for me.’”Hamill recently told Esquire magazine. “And you start that process of disengaging from something that has been a part of your life.”
Is it really the end of Luke Skywalker in Star Wars?
Hamill returned for “The Mandalorians” because “he was very impressed with her”, but he admits that seeing the end result of his aging face is “unusual”. In theory, lucasfilm He could still do “Star Wars” projects with Luke with an aging Hamill, but the actor seems to rule it out.
“People say, ‘Oh, now you’re going to be able to do a whole series of post-‘Return of the Jedi’ Luke. I said, ‘I don’t think so,’” Hamill told Esquire. “First of all, they don’t need to tell those stories, but if they do, they might get an age-appropriate actor.”
Hamill is certainly right when he says that “Star Wars” has “plenty of other stories to tell,” and the franchise is currently making it into new TV and movie projects.
The franchise will launch “Ahsoka”, “The Acolyte” and “Skeleton Crew” in Disney+while new movies include a sequel to Rey starring Daisy Ridley and a prequel directed by James Mangold about the first Jedi.
