Royals: Harry and Meghan want to become climate neutral with the foundation

Climate protection is an important issue for the British royal family. Now Prince Harry and Duchess Meghan have also set ambitious goals.

Prince Harry (37) and Duchess Meghan (40) want their Archewell Foundation to become climate neutral by 2030. That emerges from a statement from the foundation, which was published on Tuesday on the Archewell website.

While the leaders of the United Nations were negotiating solutions to the climate crisis at the UN World Climate Summit COP26 in Glasgow, Scotland, everyone at Archewell – above all Harry and Meghan – felt obliged to a more sustainable future, the statement said.

“As an organization, we will work with an independent consultant to record all Archewell-related activities since inception,” the statement continues. This includes, for example, Internet use, commuting to work and electricity consumption. Then a plan should be worked out how climate neutrality could be achieved by the end of the decade.

Harry and Meghan are not the only royals who are committed to climate protection. It was only on Monday evening that Queen Elizabeth II (95) urged the heads of state and government in Glasgow to act vigorously in a video message. For health reasons, she was unable to come herself. Her son Prince Charles (72) has been promoting climate and environmental protection for decades and is also involved in Glasgow. Prince William and Duchess Kate (both 39) also take part in the summit.
