Chris Hemsworth spoke about the unfavorable comments of Martin Scorsese and Quentin Tarantino about the actors in superhero movies and specifically those of Marvel.
“It’s super depressing when I hear that,” Hemsworth told british gq on Scorsese and Tarantino’s thoughts on actors in the MCU movies. “There are two of my heroes that I won’t be working with. I guess they’re not my fans.”.
Hemsworth was last seen as Thor in Thor: Love and Thunder next to Natalie Portman. With the actor possibly giving his last performance as the god of thunder, she pondered the future of his career.
“I’m grateful to have been a part of something that kept people in theaters,” he continued. Now, whether or not those movies were to the detriment of other movies, I don’t know. I don’t love it when we start scrutinizing each other when there’s so much fragility in the business and in this arts space as it is.”
Hemsworth called Scorsese and Tarantino “still my heroes,” adding: “In a heartbeat I’d like to work with either of them. But I say it more to the broader opinion around that issue. I don’t think any of us have the answer, but we’re trying.”

Tarantino recently called the “Marvel-ization of Hollywood” something that makes movie stars obsolete.
“You have all these actors who have become famous playing these characters,” said the director of pulp fiction during an interview on the podcast 2 Bears, 1 Cave. But they are not movie stars. Good? Captain America is the star. Or Thor is the star. I mean, I’m not the first person to say that. I think that’s been said a million times… but it’s like, you know, it’s these franchise characters that become stars.”
Scorsese has also spoken out against the films of Marvel saying that he does not see them or consider them cinema.
“Honestly, the closest I can think of to them, however well made, with actors doing the best they can under the circumstances, is theme parks,” he told the magazine. Empire in 2019. “It is not the cinema of human beings trying to transmit emotional and psychological experiences to another human being”.
