In December 2019 she presented the film “3 aus Übersee” by Martina Hechenberger and Thomas Hackl in the OÖN Forum in the Promenaden Galerien in Linz. On Wednesday is the photojournalist and artist Lisa Steiner died in New York at the age of 95.
Born in Vienna in 1927 as the daughter of a Jewess, her family fled from the Nazis to Argentina in 1938. There she studied art and worked in film before moving to New York in 1960 and taking up photography because of her photo reportages, including on Louis Armstrong, Henry Kissinger, Franz Beckenbauer, Fidel Castro, Miles Davis, Richard Nixon and Martin Luther King -Became a celebrity. “Preserving human lives and saving moments gave me identity,” said Steiner in Linz.
