“After these serious allegations became known, the organizers must be aware that a concert by this band is not a safe place for women. As long as the allegations have not been completely clarified, these concerts in Vienna must be canceled,” said Viktoria Spielmann, spokeswoman for the Greens in a broadcast quoted.
In the past few days, several women – partly anonymously – have been accused of sexual assault Rammstein-Frontman Lindemann raised. The women described situations that they sometimes found frightening. Young women were selected during concerts and asked if they wanted to come to the after-show party. According to some women, sexual acts are said to have occurred.
Lindemann on Thursday vehemently denied the claims of some women that they were drugged in the vicinity of concerts in order to perform sexual acts on them. “These allegations are untrue without exception,” his lawyers stated and announced legal action against the allegations. In a Rammstein-The statement from Saturday initially said that the allegations had hit the band very hard and that they were being taken extremely seriously. “We condemn any kind of abuse,” it said.
The Greens step aside from the cancellation of the two Rammstein-Konzerte in Vienna to make concerts generally safe for women and to make sexualized assaults impossible. According to the party, “zero rows” should be completely prevented. In addition, there is a need for mandatory safe spaces in concert locations and on-site awareness teams who can be contacted if the worst comes to the worst. “Concert organizers have a duty to implement appropriate measures and a zero tolerance policy,” says Meri Disoski, deputy. Green club chairwoman and women’s spokeswoman.
ÖVP Women’s Minister Susanne Raab also recently spoke up on this matter via Twitter: “I think the debate in Germany about ways to better protect women at concerts is right. The organizers and the city of Vienna are in view of the planned Rammstein-Concerts in July demanded that suitable protection concepts be drawn up.”
In the meantime, a petition has been launched that calls on the concert organizer Arcadia Live and the operators of the Ernst Happel Stadium not to offer alleged perpetrators a stage and the Rammstein-Cancel concerts. It has been signed by around 3,500 people so far. An APA request to Arcadia Live has so far gone unanswered.
