Film legend Robert De Niro celebrates his 80th birthday in August. It’s a big celebration in his hometown of New York City.
Shortly before his 80th birthday on August 17, Robert De Niro (79) not only received the key to his hometown of New York City. The Hollywood star also gets his own party for his special day, the “De Niro Con”. .
His production partner Jane Rosenthal (66) said at the ceremony where Mayor Eric Adams (62) presented De Niro with the key to the city: “It’s hard to find something to give Bob for his 80th birthday.” The film producer joked: “He already has a gold watch, so we decided to celebrate him and his great legacy with a fun fan event, while also celebrating his unwavering commitment to his films, his art and the city he loves appreciate.”
“De Niro Con” will reportedly be a three-day event at Spring Studios in New York City, taking place from September 29th to October 1st. De Niro himself is said to be on site, and there will also appear to be recreations of iconic film sets, classic film screenings, musical performances and panel discussions, among other things. Guest stars should also be there, it is said.
He has been an actor since the 1960s
Robert De Niro began his acting career in the early 1960s. Mayor Adams paid tribute to him with the words: From “The Witch’s Cauldron” and “Taxi Driver” to “Raging Bull” and “Goodfellas”, De Niro’s work remains “an iconic part of New York City, just like himself”.
The 79-year-old also had something else to celebrate recently. Two months ago he became a father again. The mother of his youngest daughter is his girlfriend Tiffany Chen, with whom the actor just showed up at the opening of the Tribeca Film Festival in New York. It was the couple’s second appearance since the birth of their daughter Gia Virginia on April 6. In May, they enjoyed an evening party together as part of the Cannes Film Festival.
Gia Virginia is De Niro’s seventh child. He has children Drena, 51, and Raphael, 46, with ex-wife Diahnne Abbott, 78. He shares twins Aaron and Julian (27) with his former girlfriend Toukie Smith (70). Ex-wife number two, Grace Hightower (68), has son Elliott (25) and daughter Helen (11).
