The two stars haven’t appeared together in front of the camera before, but that’s about to change as Ryan Reynolds and Kenneth Branagh are shooting an action movie.
British Oscar winner Kenneth Branagh (62, “Belfast”) and Canadian superhero actor Ryan Reynolds (46, “Deadpool”) are planning an action film together. Apple Studios will bring the two stars in front of the camera for the action adventure “Mayday”, reported the US industry journals “Hollywood Reporter” and “Deadline.com”.
John Francis Daley and Jonathan Goldstein are on board as scriptwriters, directors and producers. The duo most recently directed the action-fantasy adventure Dungeons & Dragons: Honor Among Thieves with Hugh Grant and Chris Pine. They previously brought comedies like “Vacation – We Are the Griswolds” and “Game Night” to the cinema. Nothing was initially known about the content of “Mayday”.
Reynolds is currently filming “Deadpool 3”, the third part of the Marvel action comedy about the comic book antihero. The theatrical release is planned for September 2024. Branagh is set to hit screens in a supporting role in director Christopher Nolan’s biopic Oppenheimer this summer. Cillian Murphy plays the physicist J. Robert Oppenheimer (1904-1967), who was instrumental in developing the atomic bomb.
