The digital creator took some of the most famous paintings in the world, from artists like Leonardo Da Vinci, Michelangelo, Hieronymus Bosch, Botticelli, Vincent van Gogh, Jean-Honoré Fragonard, Edward Hopper and Piet Mondrian and took them “beyond the frame”.


The debates are various. One of them, if not the main one so far, refers to copyright, on whether it is lawful for an individual or a company to take a previous human creation as the basis for a new aesthetic proposal.

Criticism was not long in coming due to the aesthetic and conceptual errors of the new works. For now, the AI can repeat and interpret patterns, but it is far from simulating the artist’s brushwork.
