“El Incal” is an epic space opera centered on John Difool, who encounters a mystical artifact known as Incal, an object of great power coveted by many factions across the galaxy. As Difool learns of the Incal’s powers and purpose, he, along with a smorgasbord of unlikely cohorts, reluctantly embarks on what begins as an unlikely mission to save the universe, gradually becoming on a spiritual journey that examines duality and the meaning of existence.
The filmmaker and writer Jodorowsky and the French artist Moebius released the title “Humanoids” in the late 1970s, and saw it become the best-selling science fiction graphic novel ever. It serves as the foundation of the “Jodoverse”, which encompasses the best-selling comic series including “The Metabarons” and “Megalex,” which if all goes well the company can further explore through additional films at a later date.
“Alejandro Jodorowsky’s movies and graphic novels have influenced me and so many others for so long,” Waititi said. “I was surprised to have the opportunity to bring their iconic characters to life and I am grateful to Alejandro, Fabrice and everyone at HUMANOIDS for trusting me to do so.”
