Auction in France: 166,750 euros for a single “Asterix” page

A signed page from a 1969 “Asterix” comic has fetched €166,750 at auction in France.

A single page from the volume “Asterix in Spain” (“Astérix en Hispanie”), first published in French in 1969, has been auctioned in Paris. the page drawn, signed and dedicated by the late Albert Uderzo (1927-2020) from the 14th “Asterix” volume achieved a price of 166,750 euros.

A value of 130,000 euros to 150,000 euros had previously been estimated. The auctioned page shows one of the well-known fights with the Romans, in which the title hero Asterix, created by author René Goscinny (1926-1977) and illustrator Uderzo, and his friend Obelix repeatedly get into.

The Uderzo record is 1.4 million

The auction is far from the Uderzo record. The title page of the volume “Tour de France” (“Le Tour de Gaul”) was valued at 180,000 to 200,000 euros in 2017 and was later auctioned for 1.4 million euros.

From October 26, 2023, Story House Egmont will present the new “Asterix” volume. It is the 40th Gallic adventure. The new author Fabrice Caro (49), known as Fabcaro, will be there, as announced in a statement in December.
