Barbara Schöneberger (49) says goodbye to her magazine “Barbara”. The July 2023 issue with the title “Feierabend” is the last issue. She is sad, announces the presenter, who served as Editor at Large for the magazine. RTL Germany announced in February that 23 print titles from the former Hamburg publisher Gruner + Jahr would be discontinued.
Barbara Schöneberger: “Much too short”
Barbara Schöneberger shows the cover of the 77th and final issue. She writes: “It was the time of our lives, really! Our not quite normal women’s magazine existed for almost eight years – far too short.” In her usual humorous way, she added: “Some celebrity marriages don’t last that long.”
Thank you to all readers. “You made this huge success possible in the first place. I’ve even heard of readers who came to us late and then ordered all the issues they missed. Where do you find something like that?!”

Nevertheless, RTL had decided to discontinue the magazine. Schöneberger wrote: “I’m sad.” She would have “definitely continued – and then really eaten less in the publisher’s canteen and thus saved further costs”.
The first issue was published in October 2015, and the magazine was initially celebrated as a success. “Barbara” is not the only magazine by a celebrity that is being discontinued: the magazine “Guido” by Guido Maria Kretschmer (58) is also being taken off the market.
