Who was Ricardo Vilca?
Ricardo Vilca He was a musician and rural teacher from Humahuaqueño (1953-2007). His work, in addition to being original, carries a singular force and transmits, like few others, the identity of the Jujuy highlands. However, his music was not accepted at first, so Vilca spent almost his entire career with difficulties in order to produce his records. There were three: “The magic of my race” (1992), “Nuevo día” (1997) and “Majada de sueños” (2003), all of them with the Ricardo Vilca ensemble and his friends. To these records is added a cassette recorded in 1989, called “Sueños de mi tierra”.
