Dante Vega presents his book “Democracy and State Terrorism in Argentina”

After his long career as a prosecutor in more than twenty trials for crimes against humanity in several Argentine provinces, Dante Marcelo Vega “Democracy and State Terrorism in Argentina” (Editorial Qellqasqa), a complete volume that covers and analyzes the history of trials for crimes against humanity committed in our country.

In the development of the book, Dante Vega delves into what happened in our country after the return of democracy, determining the period to be tried.

Based on his vast experience in Justice, Vega establishes as a representative figure, as a milestone of the “first modern expression of State terrorism in Argentina” in the 20th century, the dictatorship of José Félix Uriburu, who begins a situation that it will last, in an escalation of violence, until the days of Reynaldo Bignone as the last de facto president of our country.

With solid and documented arguments, with the theory of the two demons, he demolishes the untenable idea of the symmetry of forces between the terrorist State and the armed groups.

The historicization that Vega proposes begins with a framing of what is internationally considered a terrorist State, to give way to a deep analysis of the so-called “transitional” justice, the approaches around it and the emerging discussions of the countries that suffered the state violence, including the lack of collaboration of the dictators, up to the present day, in which the discussion focuses on the preventive detention of the repressors.
