People: Al Pacino at 83 years father of son Roman

The Oscar winners Al Pacino (83) and Robert De Niro (79) were in front of the camera for classic films like “The Godfather – Part II” or “Heat” decades ago. Now the Hollywood elders have something in common again – both are new dads.

Pacino had his rep announce the birth of son Roman. The actor and his partner, Noor Alfallah, have become parents. But they would not reveal any more details, the statement said.

Pregnancy kept secret for a long time

De Niro revealed the baby name of his youngest offspring in May. The girl, born in early April, is called Gia Virginia Chen-De Niro. The proud daddy also shared a photo of the baby with CBS Mornings. Supported by one hand, the black-haired girl in the light pink onesie looks straight into the camera. For the father of seven, it is the first child with his current partner Tiffany Chen.

Pacino and his partner Noor Alfallah had kept the pregnancy a secret until the last moment. It wasn’t until the end of May that it became known that the 29-year-old film producer was eight months old. According to media reports, Pacino and Alfallah have been a couple since April 2022. Pacino (“The Godfather”, “The Irishman”) already has three adult children by two women, a 33-year-old daughter and 22-year-old twins with actress Beverly D’Angelo. He was never married.

In 2014, he spoke about his children in an interview with The New Yorker magazine, saying: “I’m responsible for them. I’m a part of their life. If I’m not, it makes me and them sad.” His own father left the family when he was two years old. It is therefore important to him to be there for his own offspring.

No isolated cases in Hollywood

Pacino and De Niro are not isolated cases in Hollywood. “Pretty Woman” star Richard Gere (73) became a father again at the age of 70. The once “sexiest man alive”, who also appears as a great humanist and friend of the Dalai Lama, has been married to the Spanish businesswoman and activist Alejandra Silva since 2018 – their two sons are just three and four years old.

Comedian Steve Martin (77, “Father of the Bride”) became a father for the first time at the age of 67. In an interview with the US magazine of the senior citizens’ association “AARP” in 2017, he said that fatherhood in older years is “fantastic”. “Had I had a child earlier, I think I would have been a bad father and mistakenly paid more attention to my career,” admitted Martin.

“Jurassic Park” star Jeff Goldblum (70) took his first child to 63, the second son came two years later. Clint Eastwood (93) started much earlier. The twice divorced Oscar winner is the father of eight children with six partners, he was 66 when his last daughter was born.

Mel Gibson has nine children from three relationships. Shortly before he became a father again in January 2017 at the age of 61, the director and actor joked in a TV interview about soon surpassing Clint Eastwood.

Alec Baldwin (65), whose youngest daughter was born last fall, has six other children with his wife Hilaria (39). Baldwin is now also a grandpa – his eldest daughter Ireland (27), from Baldwin’s marriage to Kim Basinger, gave birth to their first child in May.

The aging rock stars Mick Jagger (79) and Rod Stewart (78) also bring a group of eight children. Jagger’s partner, Melanie Hamrick, gave birth to a boy in December 2016 when she was 29. The Rolling Stones frontman had previously fathered seven children with four other women. Rod Stewart became a father to his third wife, Penny Lancaster, for the eighth time in 2011 with son Aiden.
