A multi-million dollar agreement between the media group of prince harry and his wife Meghan Markle and the streaming giant Spotify is about to come to an end, reported the US press on Thursday.
The couple have only produced one series under their Archewell Audio podcast label since signing the deal in 2020 that was reportedly valued at $20 million.
The program called “Archetypes” led the platform’s billboards in various markets, capturing massive groups of listeners drawn to her conversations with influential women.
But trade publication Variety said on Thursday, citing an unnamed source, that Spotify expected to receive more material.
The Prince and Duchess of Sussex were looking for a new space for their content, Variety reported, citing another source.
Harry, the youngest son of Charles III, married former TV star Meghan in 2018and received a shower of positive media coverage that looked like it would help bring the traditional monarchy into the 21st century.
But relations between the couple and the family became complicated in the following years, with accusations that Markle was a victim of racism.
Harry and his wife traded their life in British royalty for sunny California, from where they have continued to question the institution.
They have fired their darts at an explosive autobiography of the 38-year-old prince, in a documentary series on Netflix and in an interview with the renowned presenter Oprah Winfrey.
