Dieter Hallervorden turns 88 on September 5th. He definitely wants to be in Dessau on that day.
Dieter Hallervorden (87) wants to continue to be on the stage himself in his Central German Theater in Dessau’s Marienkirche. In the new 2023/24 season he will be in three plays, including a program about his career called “Stations of a Comedian,” said Hallervorden. This will open the season on September 5th – Hallervorden’s 88th birthday.
Hallervorden was born in Dessau in 1935 and grew up in the Bauhaus city. In 2006, the city in Saxony-Anhalt made him an honorary citizen. In Berlin he runs the Schlosspark Theater and the cabaret “Die Wühlmäuse”.
According to Hallervorden, his stage presence in Dessau is a response to experiences from the first season. Productions in which he himself was on stage were well attended – others, which were just as good in terms of quality, sometimes found little audience response. Nevertheless, he added some risks to the schedule, perhaps to convince the audience that plays could be good even if he wasn’t acting himself.
