Journalist: When did you start using the networks to share your passion for fashion?

Stella Maris Cattaneo: It all started many years ago when I went to the BAF Week. I I am not a model, no artist, I’m not in the world of designbut I drew attention to a magazine called “On The Corner” and they started taking pictures of me. They uploaded them to their pages and from there they began to invite me to events and fashion shows. At that time people were starting to use instagram and, like me social networks I like them, I decided to open one account.

Q: Are you looking to convey something in your posts?

SMC: Honestly no. I like to participate in something that I have at my fingertips and where I can show my looksbut with limitations. I don’t like uploading anything, nor do I follow anyone. I see accounts of fashion, art and literature, but not from the private lives of others. I do not criticize him, each one does what he wants and it seems barbaric to me.

In relation to what I want to look for… first is the egothe vanity, That is unavoidable. Because it’s nice that on the other side there are people what to them like what you wore. You have to be made of steel so that it doesn’t reach you. I do it with joy and fundamentally for myself, but I also take into account the reception. If they liked barbaric, I can’t tell you that it doesn’t give me joy. That gives me some pride.

Q: In this sense, how do you filter the photos that you decide to upload and those that you don’t?

SMC: I think that any photograph that tries to reach someone or something, have to tell a story. The photo itself doesn’t say much, there has to be something behind it, that makes you imagine, that mobilizes or that captures the sensory in some way. That’s the way I think about my posts. Count where you are and what you are doing.

Also pose and attitude are very important. I checked absolutely everything you see on my profile, I liked it, beyond the comments. I am very critical of myself and in everything that is art. There is a difference in the artistic, and when you see a photo that is directly porn, for example. That is already vulgar, it is horrible. I think that naturalness is good, but without vulgarity.

Q: When was the style you wear today born?

SMC: I always had a passion for fashion, for producing me, finding original things. Since I can dress myself I began to find what I like, which is not what you usually see in a shop window: the little outfit from head to toe. What I like are the styles and I defended mine to the death, because I I feel represented through it. But it is difficult to uproot from what is already imposed. Although when I was younger my family and friends judged me for what I wore, today that not me matter. I dress and do what I want.

Many believe that because of my way of dressing I have a speech of “Cheer up ladies!”but the truth is quite the opposite. For me that each one lives his life as he wants. I cannot give advice to anyone, at most an opinion.

Q: Where do you find the inspiration for your outfits?

SMC: My style it’s a mixbecause I like it vintage, but not from head to toe, because that is already a disguise. I combine styles and from there I get my own. But it is not really a style. What I can tell you is that I’m anything but classicit’s more I am anticlassical. I like to break the structure.

But what I don’t like are big women who wear a miniskirt and have really long hair. Because they associate youth with certain guidelines that really, instead of helping them, sink. In that sense, I can be ridiculous, but not pathetic, since I can wear a hat with a parrot on it, but I would never wear a miniskirt. I think there my concept of freedom has a limit.

Likewise, the best way to enjoy of things is to be at peace. The clothes are put on the body, but it’s actually worn on the face. If you are not comfortable with what you have on, it shows and vice versa.
