In 2019 Theresia Fischer took part in the model casting show “Germany’s Next Top Model” – and although she did not win the 14th season, she had a one-time appearance. In the show’s finale, she married her fiancé, Thomas Behrend, live on television.
The couple announced their separation last year. And otherwise, Theresia Fischer’s view of the wedding has changed fundamentally. In an interview with “Bunte”, she admitted that she now regretted the step of getting married in front of the cameras and millions of television viewers. “It was certainly not the right path that I went back then,” said the 31-year-old. All the trappings were “not a good start to married life” for her and her husband.

Fischer now commented on the background of the television wedding: Actually, she only wanted to get married two weeks later. But then the production of the show asked if they would say yes during the show. “At that moment I experienced it all like I was wearing rose-colored glasses. It was almost unbelievable that that happened,” said Fischer, describing her feelings at the time.
Her inexperience also played a major role. After all, she appeared in a television format for the first time and was “completely enchanted” by it: “You’re just a lot more curious, also naive, and you might let yourself be carried away by things that you might not do later with more experience would.”

Her fiancé was not privy to the whole plan, was surprised on the live broadcast – and reacted irritated and confused. “You’re crazy,” he just brought out. When the cameras were off and the couple returned to the hotel, there was a “huge theatre,” Theresia Fischer recalls. Her fiancé accused her of “anticipating the wedding”.
“I was totally shocked and I really cried all night,” said the model. A little later, she and her husband officially married at the registry office, surrounded by huge media interest that was triggered by GNTM. After seven years of relationship, the couple is now divorced. After “Germany’s Next Top Model”, Theresia Fischer took part in “Promi Big Brother” in shows such as “The Festival of Reality Stars” or “Pokerface – don’t laugh”.
