The exploration of the myth of “El Dorado” in the American territory is the theme of this exhibition, a documentary investigation carried out together with the Americas Society of New York and the Museo Amparo de Puebla, of Mexico, with works and worldviews of Latin American artists, from Victor Grippo until Mathias Goeritz, Stefan Brüggemann and Laura Vinciamong others.
The exhibition, which can be visited until August, takes up the myth of the Spanish colonial era as an excuse to present different proposals that refer to another type of American “gold”, and other extractivisms, past and present, where chocolate, tomato, rubber from tires and cochineal used as dye.
The Proa Foundation (Avenida Pedro de Mendoza 1929, La Boca) thanked the Association of Museologists and Museographers of Andalusia (AMMA) and the Culture & Museums International Tech Forum for the award.
The Expone Awards were born in 2020 to recognize the value, effort and excellence of professional practice in projects or strategies developed by museums and exhibition centers.
