The Sabores de la Patria festival arrives at the Palermo Hippodrome

This is the “Flavors of the Homeland” festival that will take place on Saturday, June 24 and Sunday, June 25, from 12 to 8 pm, at the Palermo Hippodrome with free admission by entering Libertador and Dorrego Avenues. For two consecutive days you can enjoy a gastronomic fair dedicated to the most representative dishes of Argentine cuisine.

The festival proposes to revalue and honor the traditional gastronomy of our country in the context of a new celebration of Argentine Independence. There will be roast meats, locro, empanadas, regional dishes, typical sweets, Creole picada, wines and still life cuisine.

The Food stalls and food trucks will be in charge of Argentine restaurants and chefs identified with this type of cuisine. You can taste grilled meats, locro, choripanes, carbonadas, chopped, lentil stew, humita on the plate, humita in chala, tamales, potato cake, empanadas, fried manioc, cheeses and field sausages. The grilled cuts will also have a special role within the fair. There will be red meat, offal, ribs, roast strip, bondiolas, matambre, bife de chorizo, entraña, vacío and lambs.

Among the sweet proposals, Cocinas de la Patria will offer the possibility to enjoy traditional desserts such as mazamorra, flan, vigilante dessert, snacks, goat cheese with cane honey, rice pudding, pancakes, regional alfajores, cupcakes, fritters, churros and hot chocolate. Wines, Tantrum beers, vermouth and appetizers will be the main options among the drinks offerto accompany the most traditional dishes.

In Sabores de la Patria, there will also be a fun space for adults with table football, jenga, darts, taba, toad and card games, among other entertainment. The children will also have their sector for recreation, with an area for plastic activities and a nesting game.

Another attraction will be the contest to choose the best empanada of the fair. Each stand will participate in this competition with its own empanada recipe and a jury of gastronomic journalists will choose the tastiest one. All these creations can be tasted by visitors during the development of the festival.

There will also be live music with DJ’s that will make sets with the greatest hits of national rock, from the 80’s to the present.

In addition, on Sunday 25 the public present will be able to simultaneously enjoy a great turf day with the Provincial Meeting that will bring together the Pureblood Racing horses from the interior of the country.

It is worth mentioning that the festival has the support of BA Gastronomic Capital, a government program that seeks to position the City of Buenos Aires as the gastronomic capital of Latin America. Its objective is to promote economic activity through the gastronomic development of Buenos Aires, from the generation of employment and the promotion of sustainable food policies.
