Finding the right scent for you is not that easy. But finding a good, long-lasting perfume is even harder. We explain what you can look out for when buying and applying.

Perhaps you know this: You finally found a scent that suits you, and as soon as it’s applied, it’s gone again. To prevent exactly that, we have tips for long-lasting perfume: buying tips and tips to extend the shelf life of the fragrance.

Tips for a long-lasting perfume

  • If the perfume is to be long-lasting, it is of course important to use a high-quality eau de parfum instead of an eau de toilette. Because the concentration of fragrance oils and thus the intensity and durability are higher in an Eau de Parfum. If you buy an Eau de Parfum with the addition “Intense” or “Extrait”, the concentration of the oil in the fragrance is even higher. Usually the price is correspondingly higher – but it doesn’t take much of the fragrance to ensure intensity and durability. Buying tips for long-lasting Eau de Parfum follow below.

  • In addition, for a long-lasting perfume, it is helpful to choose the pulse points on the body, which also intensify the scent through their warmth. Classically, these are the inside of the wrists, the crook of the elbow, the back of the knee and the hollow in the front of the neck. Pulse points are well supplied with blood and therefore well suited for fragrances. The neck or behind the ears are also suitable places for your favorite scent so that you can smell it for as long as possible. And: Perfumes also last a very long time on hair and clothing.

  • In order to make the fragrance last longer, it is also advisable to to use as a primer. A thin layer on the skin, ideally the pulse points, ensures a longer fragrance experience. And: Vaseline also cares for the skin.

  • It is best to store perfume in a dark and protected place to make it last longer. Even if the bottle is attractive, it is best if you use a drawer to store it.

  • The best time to apply a long-lasting perfume is after a shower, when the body is still covered with residual moisture. This absorbs the scent and it is absorbed better and more sustainably.

  • You should also avoid rubbing your perfume after applying it. Because that can actually damage the fragrance molecules and ensure that the perfume and especially its heart and base notes cannot unfold properly.
