Actress Jutta Speidel took the anniversary of one of her Horizont houses as an opportunity to make an appeal to the public.
The Munich actress, voice actress and author Jutta Speidel (69) has not only been active in show business for many decades. The star has also been supporting homeless mothers and children for quite some time through her charity Horizon. One of their Horizon stores, the one in Domagkpark in the north of the Bavarian capital, is now celebrating its fifth anniversary.
In the course of this anniversary, which was celebrated last Saturday (July 1st), Speidel made a startling appeal to politicians to the news agency spot on news: “We urgently need more affordable housing for socially disadvantaged families and especially for mothers with their families Children who are on the streets in Germany with no prospects.”
Speidel also recalled that people got into this unfortunate situation through no fault of their own. “Every woman who is in need with her children – be it because of domestic violence, job loss, war or other reasons – is one too many,” says the actress.
Since 1997 the light on the horizon
The Horizon Initiative has been around for over 25 years – Speidel started it in 1997. In Domagkpark alone, 48 families are currently finding a safe place to live. The two houses so far will soon be followed by another, as Speidel revealed: “It makes me very proud and happy to be able to give homeless families in Munich real prospects again with the third house.” The third facility is already in the planning stage.
Speidel, known from the internationally successful thriller “Fleisch” and the cult series “Forsthaus Falkenau”, has already received various awards for her commitment. For example with the Federal Cross of Merit and the Bavarian Order of Merit.
