Netflix premiered in September 2022 Athena (Athena), a film that today is premonitory. The plot revolves around a violent social conflict that arises in a small town on the outskirts of Paris, France.

The film script, in which the director Romain Gavras share credits with Ladj Ly and Elias Belkeddarhas too many coincidences with the outbreak of violence in France: the death of a minor at the hands of the police provokes social anger that escalates to great dimensions, with the victim’s brothers at the head of the riots as the main characters in the plot.

In addition to the extraordinary similarity with the events that have triggered the riots in France, the scenes of the street clashes are impressive, since the fireworks attacks are very similar to those that accompany the reports on the riots that have gripped France since Tuesday June 27, after a police officer shot at point-blank range a young man who disregarded the order to stop the car he was driving, causing his death.
