The Broadway hit “Wicked” by Stephen Schwartz based on the book by Gregory Maguire is the prelude to the “Wizard of Oz”.
US singer Ariana Grande (“Positions”) has a role as a witch in the film adaptation of the musical hit “Wicked”.
The 28-year-old slips into the role of the witch Glinda for director Jon M. Chu (42, “In the Heights”, “Crazy Rich”), as can be seen in a tweet from the director. For the second main role, as the green witch Elphaba, Chu brought the singer and actress Cynthia Erivo (34, “Harriet”) on board.
Grande shared, among other things, a photo in which she put her hands over her face and wrote: “Thank God.” Both singers also published pictures of flowers that they apparently sent each other.
“Those two witches !!” Chu wrote next to photos of Grande and Erivo. “Wicked” tells the story of the dissimilar witches Elphaba and Glinda, who both fall in love with Prince Fiyero.
