The American actor recently turned 61 and is preparing for the premiere of a new movie in the spy saga.
Harrison Ford he just wrapped up his tenure as Indiana Jones in the franchise’s fifth installment, Indiana Jones and the Dial of Fate, which opened in theaters just weeks before the actor’s 81st birthday. Talking with The Sydney Morning Herald at the Australian premiere of Mission: Impossible – Dead Reckoning Part One, Cruise said he wants to keep making “Mission: Impossible” movies until he’s Ford’s age. Cruise just turned 61 on July 3, 2023.


“Harrison Ford is a legend; I hope to keep going. I have 20 years to reach it,” Cruise said. “I hope to keep making ‘Mission: Impossible’ movies until I’m his age”.
Although Ford ended his career as Indiana Jones at age 80, he has no plans to stop acting at this time. “I don’t do well when I don’t have a job,” he said in June, announcing that he would not retire from acting. “I love working. I love feeling useful. It’s my jones. I want to be useful… and it’s the people you work with. The intensity and intimacy of the collaboration.”
Cruise also weighed in on viral photos of him holding movie tickets to summer hits. Barbie and oppenheimer. The actor admitted that he hasn’t seen either one yet, but he plans to do so on opening weekend.
“I grew up watching movies on the big screen,” Cruise said. “This is how I do them, and I like that experience; it’s immersive, and having that as a community and industry, is important. I still go to the movies.”
“I want to see both ‘Barbie’ and ‘Oppenheimer,’” he added. “I’ll see them opening on the weekend. On Friday I will see ‘Oppenheimer’ first and then ‘Barbie’ on Saturday”.
