Tight skinny jeans and a top are no longer the absolute go-to outfit when it comes to being well dressed with simple means. Gen Z has launched a new trend via TikTok, which also consists of a top and pants – but clearly expresses that styling has moved away from the Millennial generation’s understanding of fashion.
But what do teenagers or early to mid-twenties wear instead of jeans in combination with a top in everyday life or to go out in the evening? The new trend look consists of wide statement pants in combination with a simple, often cropped top.
The simple basic look à la Gen Z
Model and entrepreneur Hailey Bieber (26) does it on a shopping spree with husband Justin Bieber (29). The 26-year-old wears light brown, ultra-wide-leg pleated pants in combination with a plain, cropped white T-shirt. In addition, she combines reserved but stylish accessories such as a black handle bag, a filigree gold chain and glittering earrings in the Y2K style.
The exciting look for every occasion
Model Emily Ratajkowski (32) took the style to an exciting level on her birthday, based on photos shows. The 32-year-old combined a plain white, cropped bandeau top with extravagant statement pants from Dolce & Gabbana in rainbow colors.
But it doesn’t matter whether it’s extravagantly colorful or in muted, reserved colors: the styling rule for the trendy top-trousers combination is always wide at the bottom, narrow at the top. According to this, wide pants and single-colored tops should now be present in every summer wardrobe.
