American actor and director Viggo Mortensen returns to Argentinawhere he lived for almost 10 years, to present his new book of poems and stories. Thursday will be in White Baywhile on Sunday and Monday it will be in the Kirchner Cultural Center and in the Borges Cultural Center.
Mortensen is visiting the country to present “Branches for a nest”, by the Argentine publisher Lux. First he will do it accompanied by the writer Fabian Casas in the Cultural Center of the Cooperativa Obrera, in the Buenos Aires city of Bahía Blanca, where in less than an hour all 160 places were sold out of the cultural space in a city of 300,000 inhabitants.
After passing through the Buenos Aires city, the actor, who has a great bond with Argentina for having lived here for a few years of his childhood and for his relationship with the team Saint Lawrence of Almagro of the one who has declared himself a fan, will reach the City of Buenos Aires on the weekend: on Sunday it will be presented at the Kirchner Cultural Center with a schedule yet to be confirmed and on Monday at 6:30 p.m. the Borges Cultural Center will share readings.
In dialogue with Télam, Gustavo López from Lux publishing housethe label in charge of publishing the volume, highlighted that Mortensen “is a good writer, he is a good reader and a very good photographer” and that the book he is presenting “It has more than 100 pages, it is divided into prose and poems and another on a personal theme of his.”
“He is a plastic artist, he is a musician, a film director, he is also a theater actorHe is an artist of various facets, he is best known for what Hollywood produces but he has made independent films and is a committed artist with his sensitivity,” López said.
About the visit to Bahía Blanca, the editor said that Although the book is not yet for sale in bookstores, the author was invited to the city and the actor accepted the invitation. “We had been handling it for some time and we reported on the fair average time” because what is sought is “a literary interest,” López clarified about the commotion that the visit of a Hollywood star can generate in a small city.
The editor also said that he has been working with the actor since “Many years ago, he had a publishing house in Santa Monica, United States, and there I edited an anthology of Argentine poetry. and a couple of books by him as a writer”, he said and confided that “we became close, with a lot of contact and when it occurred to us to do his book in Argentina about three or four years ago we began to do all the work”.
“He is a very hard-working person, very meticulous and for me a very good writer”he added, indicating that he met the actor through a deceased friend, Kevin Power, who served as deputy director of the Museo Reina Sofía in Spain and professor of literature.
