Back in Germany, back in the spotlight? As the “daughter of Til Schweiger”, Emma Schweiger often experiences prejudices.
Emma Schweiger (19, “honey in the head”) lived with her mother Dana Schweiger (53) in America for five years – and “completely anonymously”, as she said: “In America, nobody cared who my father was.” The daughter of actor Til Schweiger (57) enjoyed that. “I think it was extremely important for me to be able to develop my personality. And just to get to know myself better.” She doesn’t regret her time in America because it was good for her.
Back in Germany, Emma Schweiger now has to “come to terms with” being in the spotlight again. It is difficult “always to be addressed as the ‘daughter of’ and not as ‘I’,” she says. “Of course I’m Til Schweiger’s daughter, but that’s just a tiny part that defines me as a person.” Many people are therefore biased.
Emma Schweiger is staying in Germany for the time being
Despite the hustle and bustle, the 19-year-old first moves to Hamburg. There she wants to find out “what and where I could ultimately study”. As for her future, she is open.
Emma Schweiger, according to her own words, loves everything “that has to do with cameras”, such as “videography, music and art”. She could also imagine working as a director or editor. “I’ve seen that many times with my father on the set.”
