The Teatro Colón prepares for the winter holidays with various activities

He Colon Theater will present a wide and varied program for the whole family in these Winter Break which includes musical plays, guided tours and exhibitions that can be seen from Saturday 15 to Sunday 30 July.

Works for the little ones

The functions dedicated to the little ones (from the age of six) are part of the cycle “Land of tales and legends”coordinated by the Instituto Superior de Arte, and will be presented in the room of the Center for Experimentation.

The cycle is made up of two shows set in the missionary jungle, “This is not a wild tale” and “The Werewolf, that is, the terror of the Missions”. Both propose to rediscover their stories and legends through baroque music and will be performed by the Baroque Ensemble and students of Dance and Singing of the Baroque Opera Specialization of the Superior Institute of Art of the Teatro Colón.

The performances of “This is not a wild tale”, by Emiliano Dionisi, with music by Jean-Philippe Rameau, among others, will take place from Tuesday 18 to Sunday 23 and from Tuesday 25 to Sunday 30, at 11:30 .

“El Lobizón…”, by Gonzalo Demaría, with music by Henry Purcell, among others, will be presented between Tuesday, July 18 and Sunday, July 23, and between Tuesday, July 25, and Sunday, July 30, at 4:00 p.m.

Exhibition in Colón during the winter holidays

“Colon Factory; Discovering the secrets of the Teatro Colón” is the name of the exhibition carried out to learn about the theater and discover the secrets of the greatest coliseum in Buenos Aires, which proposes a tour of the sets, props and costumes of some of the greatest opera and ballet productions that were presented on the stage where Nothing is what it seems.

The activities that can be carried out within the space include free and guided tours of all the exhibited material, handcrafted in the Teatro Colón workshops.

During the holidays, the host-guides of “Colón Fábrica” ​​will reveal some secrets of each production and will add information about everything that is on display, and about the treasures that the property keeps.

Sets, sculptures of different works -some more than four meters high-, historical costumes from the theater, and a selection of original models of productions from the 60s, 70s and 80s, are part of the exhibition.

From 13 to 30, the exhibition can be visited on Thursdays, Fridays, Saturdays, Sundays and holidays from 12 to 18; and the guided tours take place from 12 to 2:30 p.m., and will last 45 minutes each, and the special tours will be from 3:00 p.m., every 10 minutes, until 6:00 p.m.

The guided tours of the most outstanding spaces of the first coliseum will continue with their normal hours, every day from 10 a.m. to 4:45 p.m. with departures every 15 minutes and with an approximate duration of 50 minutes; there are also two daily tours in English that take place at 13 and 15.

Tickets can be purchased online at www.teatrocolon.org.ar and at the Teatro Colón ticket office located at Tucumán 1171 from Monday to Saturday from 9 a.m. to 8 p.m. and Sundays from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m.
