Madonna had to go to the hospital at the end of June because of a severe bacterial infection. Now she expresses herself for the first time – also about her planned world tour.
Pop singer Madonna spoke again for the first time after her hospital stay and gave news about her planned concert tour. “I’m on the road to recovery,” the 64-year-old wrote on Instagram on Monday. She also thanked her fans for their “positive energy, prayers and words of healing and encouragement”.
“My first thought when I woke up in the hospital was for my children,” wrote the pop diva, who, according to her management, was treated for a serious bacterial infection in a clinic’s intensive care unit in June. “My second thought was that I didn’t want to disappoint anyone who bought tickets for my tour.”
Singer Madonna turns to her fans
“My focus now is on my health and getting stronger and I assure you I will be back with you as soon as possible,” Madonna wrote. Her current plan is to stick to the concerts of her “Celebration Tour” planned for mid-October in Europe. The concerts of the tour in North America, which should actually start next Saturday, are to be postponed. In Europe, Madonna also wants to give concerts in Cologne and Berlin.
Madonna’s management announced at the end of June that the singer of world hits like “Like a Prayer”, “Material Girl” and “Like a Virgin” had been hospitalized because of a “severe bacterial infection”. The musician had to be treated in intensive care for several days. She was then able to leave the hospital. The singer’s planned tour has been temporarily put on hold.
