Another round in the War of the Roses between Angelina Jolie and Brad Pitt. Her lawyers rail against him: “His business is illusions.”
The dispute over the formerly shared winery Château Miraval by Angelina Jolie (48) and Brad Pitt (59) is entering a new round. , Jolie, through her attorneys, taunts her ex-husband in newly filed filings. The files say that Pitt never really cared about his vineyards. The Oscar winner only visited to admire the work of the French workers who actually did the business. “Pitt is an actor, not a winemaker,” it says snotty. His business is “illusions and not dirt and grapes”.
The legal dispute is essentially about the shares in a formerly joint winery in the French Provence. According to Brad Pitt, after the purchase around eleven years ago, there was a deal between the former spouses to only sell the shares by mutual consent. However, Jolie sold her part to a Russian investor after the divorce – without asking Pitt for his consent. Brad Pitt is suing against this sale, arguing that the winery is his be-all and end-all. However, Jolie has now filed a counterclaim to put pressure on Pitt.
Brad Pitt in 2014: “I’m a farmer now”
In several interviews over the past few years, Brad Pitt has portrayed himself as a passionate winegrower. In a conversation with the trade magazine “Wine Spectator” around 2014, he said: “I’m a farmer now.” He would love to clean up the forest and walk across the country.” But is it all just a huge marketing strategy? If you believe Jolie’s lawyers, the unequivocal answer is yes. In the latest letter, they are made clear again and again.
“In the years he’s said to have built the business, he’s directed and acted in dozens of films, not to mention his countless commercial appearances, flying the jet set around the world to movie premieres, and partying in Hollywood,” the letter goes on to say. Pitt plundered the company and spent millions of company profits on nonsensical things like renovating a recording studio.
The actor acted “like a stubborn kid” after selling Jolie’s shares and now owes $350 million to Jolie’s holding company, it said. So far, there has been no counter-statement from the Hollywood actor’s lawyers. Jolie and Pitt wed on August 23, 2014 at their estate in France, and they have six children together. In September 2016, Angelina Jolie filed for divorce, starting a public war of roses that seems to have found no end to this day.
