In 2002, the science fiction movie about zombies was released 28 days later directed by Danny Boyle, which became a true blockbuster after starting with a budget of $8 million and reaching $84 million in revenue. This allowed the development of a second installment in 2007, 28 weeks later, which did not achieve the same revenue as the first, but eventually achieved the title of classic. More than 20 years later, many are still waiting for the promised third installment, which could already be a reality.

“A few years ago an idea materialized in my head for what would truly be 28 years later. To Danny [Boyle] always liked the idea”, confessed alex garland. “We are talking about it quite seriously, quite diligently. If Alex Garland does not want to direct it himself, I will be well prepared so that we can execute an equally good idea,” Boyle confessed about this film, in which he could return cillian murphy in the role of Jim.
“I would never say no. I loved making that movie. It was a long time ago. But I would love to return to that role for sure,” said the actor who is in the middle of promoting oppenheimer and recently said goodbye to Tommy Shelby’s character in the series Peaky Blinders.

Like the first installment, it was located 28 days later of the zombie apocalypse and the sequel 28 weeks later, and despite the fact that initially many now pointed to 28 months later, this new installment would finally be located 28 years after the epidemic swept society. “I have a great idea for her, but it’s a much bigger movie. 28 days later it was a smaller, punk movie, but this is different. Danny and I already talked about it,” said the screenwriter of the first film.
