Unusual step at the automobile club ADAC: The breakdown service is now also available to cyclists – on a test basis in Berlin and Brandenburg.
Members of the General German Automobile Club (ADAC) will in future be able to call the association’s breakdown assistance in Berlin and Brandenburg if they have problems with their bikes.
“In a first step, we first test how great the need for this form of assistance is,” said Karsten Schulze, technology president of the ADAC and board member for technology at ADAC Berlin-Brandenburg, on Monday. The breakdown helpers should therefore be on the road until at least the end of October, even if the chains, flat bike tires or worn brakes are broken. The employees were trained accordingly and equipped with the necessary tools.
The background to mobile bicycle repairs is the growing importance of bicycles in city traffic. The new service is also aimed at owners of e-bikes if, for example, problems arise with the battery while on the move.
