Matt Damon’s wife once saved the actor from slipping into depression during a difficult time, he has now revealed.
Matt Damon (52) threatened to slip into depression while filming an unnamed film, as he now said in an interview. During this difficult time, he received help from his wife, Luciana Barroso (46).
Without giving away the film’s title, of the frustrating shooting: “And I remember being halfway through production and still having months to go, I’d taken my family somewhere and it was a nuisance to them, and I remember my wife helping me when I was falling into depression…”
The right perspective
His wife would have simply told him, “We’re here now,” which would have put his work back in perspective, he says.
Damon further said he owes it in large part to his wife that he is a professional actor. From her he would have learned to “give everything, even if you know that it won’t be worth the effort”. For him, this attitude makes a professional: “And she really helped me with that.”
Damon and Barroso have been married for 18 years. The couple have four daughters.
