Now Naomi Osaka has revealed the sweet secret that was no longer one: On her Instagram account, the former world number one from Japan posted a photo of a baby on her lap and the words: “Well, that was a cool little break, now back to your regular program.” Small tennis rackets and tennis balls can be seen on the baby’s onesie.
In January, Osaka and her boyfriend Cordae, a rapper from the United States, made the pregnancy of the four-time Grand Slam tournament winner public. In June, Osaka announced that the couple was expecting a daughter.
The birth of the child has been a topic of conversation in the scene for days. People magazine reported on it on Tuesday, citing an anonymous source. A day later, the WTA Women’s Association also wrote on its website that Osaka had given birth to a girl in Los Angeles.
The 25-year-old Osaka has not competed in a WTA tournament since withdrawing from a tournament in Tokyo last September. But she wants to start again at the Australian Open next year.
