Star chef Steffen Henssler admits an inglorious episode in his life: he and his brother had a less than pleasant run-in with the police.
Chef Steffen Henssler is known for his restaurants and television appearances, but the 50-year-old has also had experience with the police. That’s how he described it in conversation with Verena Pooth for her talk show “More than Talking”, which is broadcast on Magenta TV.
There Henssler reported on a situation that had happened before he became known as a TV chef – “fortunately,” as the hamburger said. At that time he drove his brother home from work at night. “There was nothing going on,” Henssler recalled and reported how he also crossed red traffic lights. In addition, he was clearly traveling too fast – in the “high three-digit range”. Too bad that the police became aware of it.
Police officers suspected Steffen Henssler of car theft
Civil police officers stopped him and his brother. And the police apparently took the situation very seriously. “I have a gun on my head, my brother a gun on my head,” Steffen Henssler described the scene. “He also pushed quite hard, I had a bump.” “Engine off! Hands off the steering wheel,” the police officers shouted.

Apparently, the officers suspected that Henssler and his brother might have stolen the car. A little later, Henssler was lying on the floor, his hands tied behind his back – without really knowing what it was about, as he says today: “I didn’t have any sense of wrongdoing at the moment.” As a joke, he even called out to his brother: “Don’t make any statements.” Apparently, the officials didn’t find that funny at all.
Today, Henssler can smile about the situation – and has improved on the road. In the meantime he had “become calmer on the street”, he told Verena Pooth. But he still lives out his fast-moving side as a hobby racing driver.
